The Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, or IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, is a prestigious public technical and research university located in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, India. Its history began in 1926 when it was established as the Indian School of Mines (ISM) by the British Government. The institute was formally converted into an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in 2016 under The Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act.

It offers undergraduate (B.Tech), postgraduate (M.Tech, MBA, M.Sc.), and doctoral (Ph.D.) programs, with admission to its B.Tech courses highly competitive, based on the JEE Advanced exam. Admission to the B.Tech program at IIT Dhanbad is through the JEE system: candidates must first qualify JEE Main, then appear for and qualify JEE Advanced. Eligibility also requires meeting the Class 12 requirements, which are at least 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, or being in the top 20 percentile of your board.
