The National Institute of Technology, Srinagar (NIT Srinagar), is a premier public technical university and an Institute of National Importance located in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India. Established in 1960 as a Regional Engineering College (REC), it was upgraded to an NIT and granted deemed university status in 2003, and subsequently recognized as an Institute of National Importance under the NIT Act, 2007.
