Government Medical College and Hospital

The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Chandigarh, is a premier public medical institution located in Sector 32. It was founded to bridge the gap in undergraduate medical education in the “City Beautiful” and has since become one of India’s top-ranked medical colleges, consistently appearing in the top 35 of the NIRF medical rankings.

Affiliated with Panjab University, GMCH admits 150 MBBS students annually through NEET-UG and offers extensive postgraduate (MD/MS) and super-specialty programs. The college is attached to a massive 1,000-bed hospital that serves as a major tertiary care center for Chandigarh and the neighboring states of Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh.
