Government Medical College and Hospital

Established in 1973, Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, is a premier medical institution located in the heart of Jammu, known as the “Temple City.” Affiliated with the University of Jammu and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC), the college has grown from its humble beginnings in temporary sheds to become one of the top healthcare hubs in Northern India.

It currently admits 180 MBBS students annually and offers extensive postgraduate (MD/MS) and super-specialty programs across various disciplines. The college is supported by a massive network of five major teaching hospitals, including the Medical College Hospital and SMGS Hospital, which together house over 1,700 beds.

MBBS admission to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu is through the NEET-UG exam, followed by counselling for State Quota (85%) via the Jammu & Kashmir BOPEE and All India Quota (15%) via MCC, requiring NEET qualification, meeting cutoffs, document verification, and fee payment for final enrollment.
