Established in 1947, Assam Medical College (AMC) in Dibrugarh is the first and oldest medical institution in Northeast India. It was born from the legacy of the Berry White Medical School, which was founded in 1900 with a donation from British philanthropist Sir John Berry White. Affiliated with Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences.
AMC is a premier government institution offering undergraduate (MBBS), postgraduate (MD/MS), and super-specialty (DM/M.Ch) courses. The college is attached to the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), a massive 1,700-bed tertiary care center that provides extensive clinical training and serves patients across upper Assam and neighboring states like Arunachal Pradesh.
