The Birsa Institute of Technology (BIT) Sindri, located in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, is a premier and one of the oldest government engineering colleges in India, established in 1949. It was initially known as the Bihar Institute of Technology before being renamed in honor of the tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda. The institute is currently affiliated with the Jharkhand University of Technology (JUT), Ranchi.
BIT Sindri is spread over a sprawling campus of approximately 450 acres and offers a wide range of undergraduate (B.Tech), postgraduate (M.Tech), and doctoral (Ph.D.) programs across ten engineering disciplines, including core branches like Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, and Civil Engineering, along with Computer Science and IT. Most of its undergraduate programs are NBA accredited.

BIT Sindri B.Tech admission is based on merit in the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (JCECE). Candidates must take the JCECE conducted by the JCECE Board of the Jharkhand government and will be admitted through counseling based on their rank.
