Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram

Established in 1951, Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram (also known as Trivandrum Medical College) is the oldest and most premier medical institution in Kerala. It was inaugurated by India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, and has since evolved into a sprawling 139-acre integrated campus that serves as a massive healthcare hub.

Affiliated with the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS), the college has an annual intake of 250 MBBS students and offers extensive postgraduate and super-specialty programs. The campus houses several major specialized centers, including the Sree Avittom Thirunal Hospital (SATH) for women and children, the Regional Cancer Centre (RCC), and the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology (RIO).
