Indira Gandhi Medical College & Hospital

Established in 1966 as Himachal Pradesh Medical College, Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, is the premier government medical institution in Himachal Pradesh. Located in the scenic Lakkar Bazaar area of Shimla, it is affiliated with Himachal Pradesh University and is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

The college admits 120 MBBS students annually and offers a wide array of postgraduate (MD/MS) and super-specialty (DM/M.Ch) programs. As the state’s leading tertiary care center, its attached Indira Gandhi Hospital houses over 1,000 beds and serves as a vital referral hub for the entire region, including a designated Regional Cancer Centre.
