NIT Kurukshetra

The National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra (NIT Kurukshetra), is a prestigious public technical and research university located in Kurukshetra, Haryana, India, and is recognized as an Institute of National Importance. Established in 1963 as the Regional Engineering College (REC), Kurukshetra, it was one of the first RECs founded to promote technical education across the country.

NIT Kurukshetra offers a wide array of programs, including the flagship B.Tech (undergraduate) and M.Tech (postgraduate) degrees in numerous engineering disciplines, along with MBA, MCA, and Ph.D. programs. The institute consistently performs well in national rankings; for instance, it was ranked 85th in the Engineering category in the NIRF 2025 ranking.

B.Tech programs in several disciplines, including Computer Science and Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering. Other available specializations include Mathematics and Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Biotechnology.

B.Tech admission to NIT Kurukshetra is through a two-step process: first, appearing for and qualifying the JEE (Main) examination, and second, participating in the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counseling to receive a seat. Eligibility also requires passing the 12th-grade science stream with specific marks depending on the category, and candidates must then register, verify documents, and pay the fee through the JoSAA portal.
