The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) is India’s sole national-level entrance examination for students seeking admission to undergraduate medical (MBBS), dental (BDS), AYUSH, and veterinary programs. Conducted annually by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the 2026 exam is expected to be held on May 3, 2026, in an offline (pen-and-paper) format. The test evaluates candidates on Physics, Chemistry, and Biology based strictly on the NCERT Class 11 and 12 curriculum. With millions of applicants vying for limited seats in government and private colleges, it is considered one of the most competitive exams in the country.

NEET UG 2026 syllabus is 100% based on the NCERT Classes 11 and 12 textbooks for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
Biology: Focus heavily on Human Physiology (Class 11) and Genetics & Evolution (Class 12) as they typically account for nearly 30% of the biology section.
Chemistry: Divide your time between General Organic Chemistry (GOC) and Chemical Bonding, which are foundational to the entire subject.
Physics: Modern Physics and Semiconductors are often considered “high-reward” because they are relatively easier to score in compared to complex Mechanics.
Note: Since 2026 has removed the “choice” in questions (all 180 questions are now compulsory), you must avoid skipping even the smaller NCERT chapters to ensure you don’t lose marks on “easy” questions.
The exam is a 3-hour offline (pen-and-paper) test conducted using OMR sheets. It consists of 180 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) totaling 720 marks.
